Additional Press:
Simon's play centers on a pair of desperately mismatched roommates--one sloppy and one neat--who are arguably the most memorable pair of characters that the successful playwright has ever written. It debuted on Broadway in 1965 and spawned an extremely successful 1968 movie and sitcom that ran for five seasons.
Brad Garrett and Peter Frechette will join the previously announced Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, Lee Wilkof, Rob Bartlett, Jessica Stone, and Olivia D'Abo in the upcoming Broadway revival of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. The show is scheduled to begin preview performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theater on October 4 of this year, with an official opening set for October 27.
Under the direction of Joe Mantello, Lane will play the messy sportswriter Oscar Madison and Broderick will play the finicky photographer Felix Unger. The pair was last seen together on Broadway in The Producers, which earned Lane a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and Broderick a nomination in the same category.
Garrett, the Emmy-winning star of Everybody Loves Raymond, has been cast as Murray the cop. Frechette, Wilkoff, and Bartlett will play poker players Roy, Vinnie, and Speed, respectively. (Last week, Bartlett joined the cast of Broadway's Sweet Charity, replacing Ernie Sabella in the role of Herman.) Stone and D'Abo will appear as Brit sisters Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon.
Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick (both formerly of THE PRODUCERS) star as Oscar and Felix in this revival of Neil Simon's classic play. A story of two divorced men living in the same apartment--one messy, one neat--and how they get on each other's nerves. Previous versions include the original play in 1965, a movie, and a TV show.
The most hilariously mismatched roommates in the history of Broadway comedy are "back where they belong" in the 40th anniversary Revival of one of America's favorite comedies. After being adapted as a hit Hollywood film and serialized on television, THE ODD COUPLE is Broadway bound once more in a brand new production starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. Neil Simon's "wildly, irresistibly and continuously finny" play tells the story of two friends (one divorced, the other recently separated) who decide to share an apartment... with side-splitting results. Audiences watch through tears of laughter as the two men try to adapt to each other's idiosyncrasies and roar as they try to rekindle their "social lives" in what many have called "the funniest seduction scene in Broadway history" as Felix and Oscar try to ensnare the legendary Pigeon sisters! Enjoy the sheer pleasure of rediscovering all over again the reasons we first feel in love with THE ODD COUPLE.
